War is not good for young people to have to be a part of thats for sure. mentally I'm in a lot better place to go fight a war today than I was at the ripe o age of barely 21 thats for sure. Physically not so much. But to be honest much of my physical problems were brought on by that war all those years ago, when I look back on it I realize that.

I want to show my respect to all the old, new and to be decided in future wars Veterans

I've said it before and I'll say it again. War is an admission of failure. A failure of leaders of doing the job we elect them to do

Up to 48,000 Afghan, Iraq vets at risk for homelessness

Nearly 50,000 Iraq and Afghanistan veterans were either homeless or in a federal program aimed at keeping them off the streets during 2013, almost triple the number in 2011, according to numbers released Thursday by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The number among this generation falling on hard times is rising sharply even as homelessness among veterans of all ages and conflicts has been on the decline, according to the VA.

Advocates for the homeless say many of the estimated 2.5 million Americans who served in the two wars went into combat zones on multiple deployments, something many veterans of previous conflicts never had to endure.

"They're coming home to a bad economy. The country is different. Their families are different. They are different. Plus they are dealing with PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) and other issues around mental health," says Gregory Scott, president of New Directions For Veterans, a non-profit assistance group in Los Angeles.

duty to support our troops after the come home.
We took care of our returning troops after WWII and our economy took off. Now our infrastructure is crumbling and our too many of our returning solders are living on the streets. We have plenty of money for this over budget boondoggle, the F-35, but none for those that survived the call to serve in the Middle East and returned home.. Why?

And might I add that if Congress EVER fixes the V.A. that it might turn out to be a viable alternative to the ACA. Part of the reason why they are not funding it properly and semi-privatized the damn thing.

You know killing and otherwise destroying lives? Why not finish the job with a for profit privatized VA?

We really need to stop with voting for people on name recondition, because only they can win. And start doing a little research first. That is the only way the people can regain control of this country again.

Too many people have bought the BS, brought to us by our news media.

it's not the clerks, a lot of them are vets, not all, but a lot at least here in the Michigan hospitals.
The two I go to Detroit and Ann Arbor are the best hospitals I've ever been to.

It's the regional management, then on up. Some regions are better, some are worse, some are just plain bad. There is where the fix should come in.

Here we are hooked up with some of the best supporting medical establishments. University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Wayne State in Detroit. That's another area to be fixed with other regions.
It not just all about administration.

I have to wait over 30 days frequently more like 60 days to get an appointment. Some of the clerks here are also vets but the majority are not. These clerk jobs are considered prime jobs here in East TN so they tend to go to Non-Vets as most good jobs go to non-Vets. But I have to say the Doctors around here frequently volunteer and work with the VA very closely.
