Among all the candidates both Democrat and Clown Car, she's the only one I trust to stare down Vladimir Putin at Zero Dark Thirty.

(3,160 posts)when, in reality, it is a fraud. Overall, given the heavy dose of irony, a very apt reason to vote for Sec. Clinton.

(81,435 posts)Very glad you're both here! I am voting strictly for the Supreme Court picker. I happen to think it'll be Hillary. She's not perfect and I once chose Barack Obama over her precisely because of their differing stands on the Iraq War. Still, there's a lot I can live with, and quite a bit I actually like.
That said, if Bernie Sanders winds up with the nomination, I wouldn't have a complaint in the world. And I would - and I WILL - enthusiastically support him. The more I hear, the more I like. Wonder if they'd team up?
Even so, there remains a huge part of me that yearns to see a woman in charge, for a change. It's just time. And we finally have an experienced one available who's truly and objectively qualified. FORTY-FOUR Presidents of the United States in the not-so-lengthy life of this country, and they've ALL been men. With so much at stake that directly and even intimately involves the female population of this country - AND of this planet, for that matter - I am driven to send a woman up to bat for a change. I want the female mindset managing things. It's far more likely to bring more empathy to its approach. Harry Reid recently said that the biggest improvement he's noticed in all his years in the Senate was the influx of more women. There are 20 women in the Senate now. He said the women got more work done. Women were far more collegial, just on general principles. He said with the women it was always about "let's solve this problem" instead of the posturing and pulling political stunts and power plays and other assorted testosterone displays that can be seen all too frequently on the male side.
When I see what the predominantly male leadership in this country has done, despite women being in the majority, and I see the destructive, counterproductive, agenda-driven mess we've got on our hands, I just find myself saying "SHIT! We've GOTTA get a different mindset in here!" Quite simply, with women, dare I say it tends not to be about needing to prove how big one's dick is all the time.

(15,512 posts)I get that he appeals to disaffected middle-class voters but that was Nixon's constituency too. I want a Dem who is not afraid to be a Dem and to support Dem policies and pols and yes that includes TPP which I for the life of me cannot understand the voracious antipathy toward. Okay I can understand it but unless you're predisposed to hate Dems one can't help but be suspicious of it and sure enough it turns out to be bogus. I've got several recent OPs in my journal explaining why in case you think I'm some kind of globalist nut.

Youve got a billionaire class that can spend as much money as they want, said Sanders, who noted Republican contenders must compete in the Sheldon Adelson primary for campaign funding. Thats not what democracys about.
In an interview after his speech, Sanders said the U.S. government, and in particular Republicans in control of Congress, seem more concerned with protecting the rich than helping the poor and the declining middle class.
There needs to be a political debate about the real issues, Sanders said, adding thats one reason he would run to ensure the issues dont get lost in all the political name-calling and campaign distractions.
People dont care about Clintons emails, he said by way of an example, but do care about jobs, wages, health care.

Bernie knows who the enemies of democracy are with their says political name calling. Bernie has run a positive campaign and not said one word against Hillary. There is a reason for that. He causcuses with the Democrats and knows what is really important.
Sanders was asked if he would have a civil debate with Clinton in the months to come, given her status as a member of the political establishment he said he did not represent, and given that she has been widely criticised on matters regarding her wealth. On Friday she and her husband, former president Bill Clinton, said they had earned more than $25m in speaking fees since January 2014.
Ive never run a negative political ad in my life, Sanders said I believe in serious debates on serious issues. Ive known Hillary Clinton for 25 years. Maybe I shouldnt say this: I like Hillary Clinton. I respect Hillary Clinton.
Will the media, among others, allow us to have a civil debate on civil issues? Or is the only way you get media attention by ripping apart somebody else?
http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/may/17/bernie-sanders-hillary-clinton-spoiler
I doubt either of these candidates will make negative remarks about each other. It is beneath them.
If Hillary wins the nomination, which I still say is not a sure thing, listen for the sound of the bus when Bernie endorses her and urges people to vote for her.
I expect Clinton to endorse and campaign for Sanders if he wins, just as she did for Obama in 2008 after a very bitter race.

(15,265 posts)I am making my own guesses as to where she really stands on the issues.
I suspect that she is:
1. Pro Keystone XL pipeline.
2. Pro TPP
3. Pro Monsanto & GMO's
4. Pro fracking
5. Pro Wall Street
6. ..
