He fell short in the race for mayor, but now Willie Wilson has his sights set on an even higher office. Hes running for President.
The wealthy Chicago businessman made the announcement this morning. He joins former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Sen. Bernie Sanders, and former Maryland Governor Martin OMalley in the race to be the Democratic presidential nominee.
I am a Democrat, but Im not too keen on the party lately, said Wilson. Make no mistake. Im running for the anti-tax Democrat. I am against putting more taxes on hard working people who are doing all they can to feed their family and keep a roof over their heads.
Wilson barely received 10% of the vote in Chicagos mayoral election, and while many think he doesnt have a chance at victory he answered the question, why run?

(25,111 posts)He sounds like no more additional taxation on the middle to poor class, and that in itself is worth hearing from him. Seems like the Dems who are running right now are in most part on the same issues, which will get the message out.
The 1-2%ers need to pay their fair share of the taxes, which I totally agree on.

I think he likes throwing his money away. He won't even be on the ballot in most states as he has no campaign infrastructure to speak of.
I will give him one thing, he has made a lot of money.
