Of course in the more totalitarian regimes than the US (and I purposely leave the US in the group), total control of information flow is possible.

Even worse is the perversion of the flow by injecting information into a conversation to change the whole thread.

With the consolidation of the media conduits (ATT, Verizon, Comcast) the ability to further monitor, control, interfere will increase; and I can't imagine that one or more of these will not take advantage.
