How can you invent something sufficiently outrageous as to satirize something so inherently nutzo as Republicanism as we know it? How often have people fallen for Onion stories because they are so close to believability?

and seeing someone who doesn't even try to fit in would threaten his tenuous fantasy world.

Coming from a religion that even a lot of middle class people have trouble taking seriously, I could see why conforming with his East Coast elite classmates would seem like a matter of life and death to him. One misstep, and they would notice something weird about him too.

He has scared me since I heard the dog on the roof story, I think it was way back in 2007. I thought based on that alone he was unfit for office. I really didn't want him nominated back then, so much so that I breathed a sigh of relief when grouchy get off my lawn McCain got it.
