Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsWhen Casebolt "apologized", why DIDN'T he say "I apologize to the girl I assaulted"?
or "I admit I was wrong to slam her into the concrete, since she hadn't done anything even vaguely illegal or uncooperative or violent"?
or "nobody at that party deserved police harassment, and we should have just left when we saw that they were doing nothing wrong, and that that racist neighbor was wrong to complain just because she saw black teenagers celebrating graduation and being happy for a couple of hours"?
Why did he have to reduce it to "I'm sorry to those who were offended", which is code for "I'm sorry because people made a big deal about nothing"?

He was proud of it . . . until all the protests started coming in, then he promptly took it down.
I don't buy the apology at all.
Again, he was proud of the video of him manhandling and body-slaming a teenager girl in a bikini who he outweighed by 100 pounds. Assholery at its finest.

(6,930 posts)I found his actions to be wrong in so many ways. He has no business being a police officer.

(21,718 posts)The lawyer delivered the statement, not Casebolt. And when you are guilty as hell, as Casebolt is, admitting to what you did would not be wise.

(7,820 posts)While all of the above would be more than appropriate, under the circumstances I'm a bit surprised we got even this much at this point.
