Omaha’s first day in the 90s was tardy in arriving, but it still sent several people to the hospital Tuesday with problems related to the heat.

Temperatures peaked at 97 degrees Tuesday in Omaha, according to the National Weather Service, topping the 90-degree mark nearly three weeks behind schedule. On average, Omaha reaches 90 degrees by May 21, according to weather service meteorologist Josh Boustead.

Twenty people have been treated at CHI Health hospitals in the Omaha area for problems related to the heat since Tuesday morning. Methodist Hospital reported having one person with heat-related illness in its emergency room, and the Nebraska Medical Center reported one overnight.

Highs in the 90s were expected again Wednesday, but after that, stormy weather moves in, and highs were forecast to drop back to the 70s and 80s, according to the weather service. The average high for this time of year is about 82.

and take care of anything that I need to either early in the morning or late in the afternoon. It has been warm and muggy in southeast Texas and I'm breaking a sweat going out to the laundry facilities which is only about 20 yards away.

17-word headline should have been "Over-Due Heatwave Sends 20 to Local Hospitals"

She sets off the middle of sentences with commas for no good reason. Maybe she is paid by the comma. Many very basic problems with verbs.
