to keep the predators of our freedoms at bay, and we haven't done a very good job of that lately.

'Terrorists hate us for our freedoms'! Said G.W. Bush and then proceeded to do the job for them, assuming there was even a fraction of truth in that childish claim.

But if it was true in any way, they must be thrilled at their success.

This also provides an opportunity to thank those who TRIED to stand up against the creation of the Security State such as Sen. Bernie Sanders, Rep. Barbara Lee and the handful of courageous people who tried but failed due to the complicity and/or lack of courage of far too many charged with that job.

And of course to all the Whistle Blowers who risked everything to try to warn us, Binney, Drake, Snowden among others, and suffered the consequences for their courage.

And the nobles were furious and tried to depose him.

Lots of unfortunate stuff in the Magna Carta.

But you surely aren't talking about the right of Habeas Corpus, are you?

The barons were angry that a peasant could bring charges against them before the King's court.

Moreover, King Charles I threw quite a hissy about being tried for treason by mere commoners about a century and a half before the French got around to beheading a King. The Magna Carta didn't save his worthless blue blood.

such as this?

To create the beginning of a better society than what was the norm back then?

I'm not getting your point.

Do you oppose the US Constitution also because it didn't solve every single human wrong the moment it was written?

Remember, it was written in such a way that it foresaw the future when more amendments would and should be added, and have been?

I'm not sure what your point is frankly.

Steps have to be taken in every period of history to move FORWARD, rather than backward.

THIS country has been marching backward now for several decades.

Or do not agree with that?

in the development of constitutional government, but it was hardly a victory for the common man in its own time.
