(51,076 posts)sorry about that. I meant to not hit post because I wasn't finished with what I was going to say and didn't realize I had. Had to go get meds for a bad case of bronckitis at the VA and they were closing at 4:30 and we're 30 miles away. mybad
I agree with what you're saying here.

(114,904 posts)Actually, your post makes little sense. What happens on DU doesn't translate to the real world. Even if Bernie and Hillary supporters infuriate one another to the point where a handful of DUers won't vote for Hillary if shes the nominee or Bernie if he is, it's so inconsequential to the outcome of the election as to be laughable. And I certainly hope that the vast majority of DUers aren't so stupid that they'll refuse to vote because of what some other DUers said. I have faith that that is not the case.
nolabear
(41,991 posts)And I stand by my heebie-jeebies about Jeb. The best thing I got out of that speech was a profound lack of anything but ideology and nodding to the screaming right.

(114,904 posts)what's going on on DU is going on in the real world. And even on DU, most will vote for the nominee.

(20,895 posts)and Obama won without a problem. DUers claimed for 4 years Liberals wouldn't back him for reelection and they did. The day to day anger here at DU doesn't translate to the real world. If it did W would have been charged for war crimes

(24,620 posts)and decided that you will vote for Hillary if she is the nominee? I really thought you were most emphatic that you would not, but then maybe I was mistaken.

If there is hostility coming out of the convention...by all means get worried.

(14,524 posts)They are childish and self defeating.
If my opinion on issues and how the candidates address them "alienates" somebody, that's their problem to solve.

(45,319 posts)to support our candidate. Politics that revels in alienating voters isn't politics, it's just personal acting out using political lingo. The entire point of electoral politics is to attract voters, not to alienate them.

(1,825 posts)I guess some Bernie supporters think that it's so very easy to beat Republicans, even a Socialist from a tiny New England state can do it. But I do remind you that Republicans have captured enough votes to get them a strong majority in the House, and a majority in the Senate, as well as the governorships of both major toss-up states, Florida and Ohio.
There are Democrats and Republicans to be sure, and there are also a SUBSTANTIAL amount of Independents. Do you truly think that the Independents will flock to a Socialist?
As for me, I do not want a repeat of 1988 or 2004. A Democrat as President can't do much good (especially with Republicans controlling Congress), but a Republican can SURELY DO A HELL OF A LOT OF DAMAGE.
Kalidurga
(14,177 posts)Independents like Bernie too. He will be unstoppable if everyone who wants him to win canvases for him during the primary season. We are going to #Occupy the Vote

Sanders can explain that he is more like a European socialist...but that won't go very far, either, since
the Republicans hate anything beyond U.S. borders...and with the European Union having a messy time of it,
his explanation is something that will be torn to shreds. The editing of his comments also will be used to best advantage.
