Of course I don't hear a lot, I haven't had a non-business personal phone call in over a year.
So, when was the last time you heard the phrase "there oughta be a law" in response to a questionably moral business or political practice?
In the 50's sitting around listening to adults carp about things in the newspaper this was a popular response to an outrageous ethical breech. Now the only time I seem to hear such things is when there has been a bunch of people hurt or killed.
Otherwise we seem to shrug our shoulders and say 'that's how business is done'. Getting rid of laws and regulations seems to get much more advocacy.
Seventeen hour days for business interns? There's gotta be a law against that, really.

(1,771 posts)I took some heat from my boss after I told a customer to "contact their congress person" years ago when they were complaining about a certain way we HAD to do business. I also remember Leisure Suits, fax machines the size of a car, and a bunch of other stuff that will really date me.

In late 50's I was in my early teens, and I just remember both
the cartoon and that people used it at opportune times.
