Charleston brings Monday's Shadow to mind....

I don't really know if I could say that this was related in any fashion, but it made me think about it so I figured that I would put it out there.

My monday started at 3:50 am, pulled myself together and headed to the VA where I caught the bus to the Buffalo VA. We had some problems with a wheelchair and a couple of pickups, no real trouble, but ran a little late. Got to the Buffalo VA just 10 minutes before the appointment, but the check in was easy. A couple of nurses remembered me and spent a couple of minutes seeing how things were going. Went in to the clinic, all lights green, see you in 4 months, then out the door.

So I'm feeling fairly good but kind of groggily. As I leave the elevator heading to the lobby to wait for the bus one of the other passengers pins me in the corner and looks around nervously before talking. And this is what he says....

"They've got this Arab Specialty Book Store, an American walks in and says-I'm not sure what the tile is but I want a book on eliminating terrorism. They tell him to get the fuck out and don't come back. He says that's the one...."

While I stand there, doing my best goldfish impression, he repeats it. Just in case I missed it the first time.

When my brain finally kicked in to gear, I looked down on him and said, You do realize that doesn't even work as a joke, right? At least I had to joy of seeing him sweat for a couple of hours. Any time I headed in his direction, he would take off.

Don't think I will ever understand some people.
