Hubby and I commented on it, wondering if some of the plantation houses and towns were play acting. But a local told us they were quite serious, that's how it is viewed.....

(6,409 posts)How would you feel if the Canadians invaded and took away your property? That's what the north did to the south when they took away slaves from owners. Of course, the average southerner didn't own slaves, and was pretty much duped into supporting, and dying for, the institution of slavery in the name of "state's rights." But that's an inconvenient part of the story.
