Mike Huckabee calls for less dialog on race and more ‘conversions’ for Jesus

because God already ‘solved’ racism.

http://www.rawstory.com/2015/06/mike-huckabee-calls-for-less-dialog-on-race-and-more-conversions-for-jesus-god-already-solved-racism/

“I didn’t punt at all,” Huckabee said of refusing to take a position on the flag. “I think we’ve missed the real point in this. When I’m asked that question as a presidential candidate, what I’m being baited for is, is South Carolina a racist state?”

“And so what I said was, Ed, as a frequent visitor to South Carolina, I look at this objectively,” he continued. “You’ve got a female governor who is of Indian descent, you have the only elected African-American U.S. senator in the South from a state of 4.8 million people, elected largely by people who are mostly white. That’s not racism.”...

“I keep hearing people saying we need more conversations about race,” the former Arkansas governor opined. “Actually we don’t need more conversations. What we need is conversions because the reconciliations that changes people is not a racial reconciliation, it’s a spiritual reconciliation when people are reconciled to God.”

“When I love God and I know that God created other people regardless of their color as much as he made me, I don’t have a problem with racism,” Huckabee insisted.

I can see the point about SC voters electing two prominent politicians of color. But the rest of it - is he saying you have to believe in God to not be a racist? Are we people with no faith racists then? That's like saying you can't have good moral standards without believing in God. I'd argue that in fact, some religious people feel free to act badly toward others because they believe if they ask God for forgiveness they will get it no matter how many times they repeat the pattern So believing in God makes them less moral.

Rule 1 from Jesus: love God above all else.
Rule 2 from Jesus: love your neighbor.

Someone needs to define neighbor to him.
