T-MOBILE, AT&T TRADE INSULTS

The Hill
Overnight Tech

T-MOBILE, AT&T TRADE INSULTS: T-Mobile and AT&T lobbed insults at one another in an ongoing battle between the carriers related to spectrum. T-Mobile called on regulators (http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001SgV7JZyS-Yj0i7ARIqQXgAIa5RDTi27bPVkAI6ByN87njflzFLKw_3dd3KzxnvV7nEO0hgORyWMUT8H95FfWUGrHAQ5umzfNv4-HPKwmKoDWzV0nzk32V55I1QQVjvW9csVTsEj7tSKtEWMDlvBz9eU1VuGM9yt24kYLs0olH2FSDa7d7RhHxIC6He79hiu-DCWrlMObnRysyypMzFmt1p4WSIqsD7E_RbkUZ4PghvKFAjgQM_8WJP6nz8tWGYTqO_6wprK2APFgoes33__wag==&c=-nFz8Yl5znqH1nbUZ2zmu-nge5woeYB1E1EIjko90T9GgTeHUnspHw==&ch=8UPyd1jNgCWts9PxEr3a_j-vJygiWAPYs86pUN2-OfVrPiaeoDUlwQ== ) to bar AT&T from buying valuable spectrum in rural Kentucky, West Virginia and Ohio, saying the purchase poses anticompetitive risks because of its share of the market. T-Mobile also released a short YouTube video characterizing AT&T and Verizon as super villains. AT&T says ( http://www.attpublicpolicy.com/spectrum-2/t-mobile-should-stop-complaining-and-start-investing-in-rural-america/ )the buy would allow it to offer better mobile speeds to rural customers and advised T-Mobile to "stop complaining and start investing in rural America."

I'm T-M customer but on AT&T's side with that last sentence. A few years ago, I could use roaming w/o data limit to get net at my WV cabin. Barely. Then T-M changed, and now I only get very limited data before it costs extra and it's still roaming and still spotty and slow. If I lived in the area where cabin is, I certainly would not be a T,M customer. (But wouldn't choose AT&T either.)

in our area. They can even be spotty in town. Verizon and ATT are better coverage wise but T-Mobile and Sprint offer better deals. I guess they all suck at customer service; that just seems to be the way it is in our post-modern world.

And taking everything into consideration, I decided the best choice for me would be T-Mobile. Yes their coverage is spotty in rural areas, but 95% of the areas I go there is T-Mobile service the worst case I can find Wifi when having a coffee. T-Mobile also offers the best prices with no-contract GSM phones on a super fast network with no overages. Again it all depends on your needs, if I where a long haul truck driver, I would probably get the Verzion CDMA network.

...but I've switched 3 of our 5 phones to Verizon. T-Mobile just drops too many calls, and the 3G/LTE data was just terrible. Of course, all of these problems are location-specific. I'm in Santa Rosa, CA. It's not rural--many consider it to be the far north end of the Bay Area. In San Francisco, T-Mobile coverage was great, but it was just too spotty where I live.

You probably get better coverage in rural areas, but you have to buy their phone with bloatware and inflated prices.
