The official say something nice about the candidates thread.

If you can't say something nice then please go to another thread. In this thread you should be saying something nice about preferably all four candidates but at least one candidate who you aren't supporting at this time.

So here is my effort.

Martin O'Malley has passed an amazing array of legislation as governor of Maryland. A strong gun control law, a tax designed to help clean the water, a different plan to help fight climate change, and marriage equality. Yes, he had strong Democratic majorities but still he used them to effect great change.

Lincoln Chafee, opposed the Iraq War against the near unanimous weight of his party in what was a wise decision. His record as governor of Rhode Island (mostly as an independent, some as a Democrat) was strong.

Hilary Clinton has served the federal government for 20 years (first as first lady, then US Senator from New York, and finally as Secretary of State). During those years she has tirelessly fought for women and LGBT people. She has promoted women's rights in some pretty tough terrain. She went to China, Pakistan, India, and several other countries that haven't been bastions of women's rights to tell them they needed to change their ways. As Secretary of State, she was the first cabinet member to offer benefits to the same sex spouses of employees. She learned, and will apply, the lessons of the 1990's and the 2010's, and deal with teh GOP as they need to be dealt with.

Bernie Sanders is the longest serving Independent in US Congressional history. That is an impressive achievement in what is a 2 party country. More impressively, he did it without either fame (Ventura) or wealth (Perot) but by force of his record as mayor of his state's largest city. He has consistently advocated his liberal economic policies for his entire career. He represents his state and its political culture well.

I would be proud to vote for any of these people.

... them imho.

All of them have some warts but they've been in the fight for a second or two so perfect isn't expected.

The least of dem candidates far outweighs the most sane of the GOP's

She is not mincing her words. I really appreciate this candor from someone who is currently running for office.

Saved the waterfront from developers/really bad ideas. I'd love him too if I was from there.

I've avoided taking pot shots at any of them, and even though I have a favorite, I'm not going to start in on any of the others now. Sometimes we seem to forget that all of the declared Dem candidates are sane, smart and qualified, which is more than you can say about any of the passengers in the GOP clown car. It's an embarrassment of riches.

I think Hillary will keep women's issues in the foreground- they have been taking a beating lately. I may disagree with her on some things, and isn't my first choice, but she is tough. My grandmothers were tough, my mother was tough, and my wife if tough. I appreciate strong women.
