"NASCAR will continue our long-standing policy to disallow the use of the Confederate Flag symbol in any official NASCAR capacity."

I know NASCAR gets crapped on here; but once again, they were doing it before white people (as a group) even gave a damn about that idiot flag, while taking that idiotic flag to races from North Carolina to California.

Most people in the south are finally realizing how this looks. "How could we be so stupid? (facepalm) We look like a bunch of ignorant bigots. Take down that damn thing!" Meanwhile, here in the upper-left corner of the nation, I still see the moron flag flying from pickup trucks and flag poles. One guy even got hisself an old wooden pallet and painted an idiot flag on it, and he displays it in his front yard.

and private (read: stupid jagoff) doing it.
Also the racism it represents is a big part of the political culture in the South.
The same type of politician is rare in the NE and limited to white asshole enclaves.

Private ownership by racists of the racist flag is their right and flying it on their own property is also their right. By doing so, they are showing their racist asses but it is their right.

This is the capitol and office George Wallace worked out of! We drive by the State Capitol all the time. I had no idea this was even a possibility!

Governor Bentley (R) does the right thing.

Next, sign up for ACA Medicaid!

He's calling up the State Legislature for a Special Session to get a 2016 budget. He vetoed the one the Republican super-majority sent him.

It didn't raise taxes! That's right - it didn't raise taxes!

Welcome to Bizarro World of the South!

Republican or Democrat - in the South, really can get confusing!

Tiny steps maybe, but steps toward progress none the less. The work now is to sustain the progress made while fighting for substantive, long-lasting change.
