I know NASCAR gets crapped on here; but once again, they were doing it before white people (as a group) even gave a damn about that idiot flag, while taking that idiotic flag to races from North Carolina to California.

(6,409 posts)Most people in the south are finally realizing how this looks. "How could we be so stupid? (facepalm) We look like a bunch of ignorant bigots. Take down that damn thing!" Meanwhile, here in the upper-left corner of the nation, I still see the moron flag flying from pickup trucks and flag poles. One guy even got hisself an old wooden pallet and painted an idiot flag on it, and he displays it in his front yard.

Also the racism it represents is a big part of the political culture in the South.
The same type of politician is rare in the NE and limited to white asshole enclaves.

(50,375 posts)Private ownership by racists of the racist flag is their right and flying it on their own property is also their right. By doing so, they are showing their racist asses but it is their right.

(16,104 posts)This is the capitol and office George Wallace worked out of! We drive by the State Capitol all the time. I had no idea this was even a possibility!
Governor Bentley (R) does the right thing.
Next, sign up for ACA Medicaid!
He's calling up the State Legislature for a Special Session to get a 2016 budget. He vetoed the one the Republican super-majority sent him.
It didn't raise taxes! That's right - it didn't raise taxes!
