As a caseworker for the Illinois DHS, I sign people up for the ACA every workday. I've had every kind of client there can be... white, black, Asian, Hispanic and Middle Eastern, citizens and residents, the unemployed, college students, parents and children, laid off, disabled, retired and fired... all desperate human beings in need of medical coverage at affordable rates. Now these people can live and work without the chance of financial ruin, without the stress of seeing their savings wiped out by medical disaster.
So thank you Supreme Court (well, six of you) for upholding the law. This is a great day for all Americans. Now if you excuse me, I'm going to Free Republic for some delightful schadenfreude.

(2,925 posts)now if only the states that won't expand medicaid would.
Maybe they were holding out for the scotus to vote against the aca,
perhaps they will rethink this and expand?
Be careful visiting the freepers!

So heartwarming to see Republicans consoling themselves over the bad news that thousands of people won't go bankrupt if they get sick.

(260 posts)My union and office have other problems, though. Governor Rauner (the third Koch brother, as I call him) is still trying to cut our wages and health plans and we're standing firm against him. I hope it doesn't lead to a strike, but if it comes to that, I may have to work for free.

(17,048 posts)Thank you for serving the public! Insurance can be tricky and scary for so many.
I just signed my husband up. Long story, but his coverage goes into affect on July 1st. He is dying so I was very nervous about this court decsion.
So, THANK YOU! And THANK YOU to our POSCS president!

(2,375 posts)Feel great about the news today, and that I get a great deal on healthcare......but staying insured through Covered California/Blue Shield has been migraine inducing. Don't have the energy to go into details, but the communication between CC & BS is horrible - and neither communicates effectively with me. Today I find out that one of the reasons behind my ongoing nightmare has been that I didn't respond to a letter that CC never sent me! WTF?! I felt like screaming during my conference call! (They needed me to confirm that I wasn't insured through any other carrier.)
It looks as though things are finally straightened out now -- but now I have to review my bank records to make sure I'm not over-paying BS. Have any other Californians had trouble?

(3,813 posts)now as you say people will not go bankrupt due to hospital bills
just from having deductibles so high
they never use the actual insurance.
but they have insurance.
medicare for all .. raise what they pay dr.'s so that the dr.'s will accept it
and put everyone on it.
