i wanted to photograph the scene
heres what i saw
a room filled with people waiting for a license. men, women, families with kids. a cross section of america.
joyous people standing in front of teh clerks office with rice, cake etc... to celebrate even though texas requires a 72 hr waiting period to get married unless waived by a judge. (some judges were waiving the 72hrs)
every time someone came out with a license people erupted in cheers.
one couple was able to get married since they had a waiver from a judge. i was honored to take pictures of their ceremony even though my motto is I dont shoot weddings.
all i could think was why the fuck did it take so long.

(112,445 posts)I'm thrilled that Gov. A-butt is getting his knickers all twisted in an effort to stop something that the SCOTUS said was a constitutional right. I'll be surprised if he doesn't sue and loses again.

(34,582 posts)the last couple days have made me feel great about this country. I have lived to see the lowering of one flag, to be replaced by another. Ok, maybe not totally, but you get what I mean I hope.
