LINCOLN — Abortions have become harder to get in Nebraska since a longtime doctor retired.

The late-March departure of Dr. C.J. LaBenz left Planned Parenthood of the Heartland without a doctor to do abortions regularly at its Omaha and Lincoln clinics.

The organization responded by flying in a Massachusetts-based physician to provide the services on a part-time basis.

It also cut the number of days that its clinics offer abortions from a total of eight per month to five.

was oppressive and very intimidating. One of the docs in Lincoln
who provided abortion services lived just down the street from us.
The anti-choice protesters didn't confine themselves to demonstrating
outside Planned Parenthood; they were on the sidewalk outside his home.
They followed his wife to work and demonstrated outside her workplace,
which eventually got her fired. They demonstrated on Sunday morning
--complete with huge graphic signs of aborted fetuses--outside
the church to which he belonged.

Talk about obnoxious, persistent, threatening and intimidating people
determined to make women live their lives according to THEIR values.
Nothing but a$$holes dedicated to imposing their particular brand
of theocracy on everyone. Extremely hateful people.

I took my Bible down one Sunday to read to them Numbers 5:11-31 (an abortion ritual given by
Moses to his people to ensure that a husband--who suspected his wife of infidelity--wouldn't be saddled
with raising a child that wasn't his). Their leader
told his followers--mostly women--not to talk to me because I was the 'devil'.
I guess they were all so brainwashed they couldn't appreciate the irony of their 'leader' telling them
to ignore a Bible story.

And everything they did demonstrating was considered 'legal'.
