The college is not a salute to the Confederacy. If anything, it's another side of REL as an academic. I heard that Lee still has the highest score at West Point and was smarter than any of the Union generals. I can't imagine demanding that W&L change its name and charter to erase/delete the legacy of Lee with the renewed interest in cultural Reconstruction.

Like anything in history, it's complicated and more than one side to the story of any historical figure.

This guy, who was in Lee's class and resigned his commission not long after leaving West Point: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Mason_%28attorney%29

Interesting that MacArthur was third.
