I'm sharing a private moment with my granddaughter when there was no camera to get the Kodak moment

I had Madison most of last week and will have her again this week. Feeding the birds and animals is done here several times a day. First American's used to feed the spirits. I guess we are honoring that tradition.

Wednesday Madison and I were getting ready to go somewhere. Madison loves to feed the creatures of the forest. As she was going out the patio door our lone semi-tame deer stood at the fence and was waiting for something to eat. This full grown female stops by often. First Madison tore pieces of an entire loaf of bread and dropped them on the other side of the fence. The deer stood and looked this stranger over before advancing to eat. Madison went back to the shed for corn and critter crunch. She walked up to the fence. The deer was already eating the bread. The deer looked at Madison and kept eating. Madison stayed quiet and enjoyed a moment with nature, just one foot away.

It was beautiful. I knew by the time I could get the camera out and ready, it would be too late. But I know Madison (9 years old) will remember this moment long after I'm gone.
