NBC is ending its business relationship with Donald Trump over his recent comments about Mexican immigrants.
"At NBC, respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values," NBC said in a statement. "Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBCUniversal is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump."
The network will no longer air the annual Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants that were part of a joint venture with Trump, the statement added. Its relationship with "Celebrity Apprentice" will continue, as Trump ceased his involvement with the reality show during his presidential bid.

(50,444 posts)regardless of the 'reasons' any network gives. A cost/benefit analysis was likely done and the cost outweighed the benefit ergo the termination of the business relationship, imo.

(45,251 posts)And, if so, how come their sponsors had no significant problem with Buchanan's racism and xenophobia, even though many viewers did?

MSNBC fires commentator Pat Buchanan
"MSNBC President Phil Griffin said recently that Buchanans suspension came after the publication of his latest book, Suicide of a Superpower, which contains a chapter called, The End of White America. Griffin said last month that he did not think the book belonged in the public discourse and Buchanan has been off the air since October, but news of his suspension did not break until January. At the time, MSNBC said there was no decision yet on his potential future with the network."

In a brief statement issued Thursday night, the network said simply: After 10 years, we have decided to part ways with Pat Buchanan. We wish him well.

I know they finally fired Buchanan. However, as my prior post also said, they had kept him on their payroll for years while their viewers complained about the racist and xenophobic comments he was making on MSNBC shows. As a result, their rationale about Trump rings hollow.
