YourHHRSnews.com:

For veterans like 44-year-old Juan Becerra, the sounds and smells around the July 4th holiday can trigger memories of combat.

"At the Fourth of July, we sort of expect it and anticipate it," he told The Times. "It's leading up to the Fourth of July, when people are setting off their M-80s and you don't expect it. I would catch myself jumping all the time because it brings me back to the night we were attacked and reminds me of when they shot mortars into our compound."

...Those with loved ones who are veterans should remind them they're in a safe place and that they're not alone on the Fourth of July. Becerra suggest(s), "Just be there and say, 'We're here -- it will pass.' And we'll be good to go."

who set off fireworks before and after the 4th will even see any of these signs, let alone care.

I'm not a person with PTSD, and I still find it greatly annoying that people set off fireworks the way they do.

that my dogs were piled on top of me until it was over. The worst I've ever seen or heard here. And fireworks are just as bad...for dogs, and for some humans.

Please be respectful of those around you (animals and humans). Also, it is a fire danger in areas like mine, where we are in red fire zone. I heard choppers all day today. I hope they were just looking for possible fires today from last night's storm, and not actually dealing with them.

Announcing plans for "adult fireworks" after the national/local displays.

I may take a trip out of town this year.

They sell fireworks year round and they set off fireworks year round. Some for religious reasons and some just for "fun." You get used to hearing lots of fireworks here.

On the other hand have neither seen nor heard a gun of any type since I got here. Easy trade-off.
