I still feel lost when 11:30 comes and there's no Letterman

But I don't want him to come back in spite of how much I miss his monologue.

Why, because on the last night he had on, he had many guests that you can tell he liked, and they liked him.

But the look on his face when he introduced his wife, Regina, and son, Harry, was the most beautiful, happy, loving expression I have ever seen on his face since he started the Late Show. I hope he is as happy forever as he was that night, and I think he will be, as long as he's with them, so to wish him back is unthinkable.

He must have thought about them every night he spent with us, as that was one night less he'd spend with them, and must have thought, "What the hell am I doing here, my heart is at home", and no one knows how long they have.

Be happy David. You sure made me and a whole bunch of DUers very happy. Thank you.

I was lucky enough to attend the show in the final week, watched him for 28 years, but I still feel I didn't get enough Dave. His show was part of my life for so long and a such a big impact on my formative years, I almost felt like I knew the guy as family or something.

He's talked about doing something low key, along the lines of Maron's podcast or that thing Seinfeld does where he interviews comedians.

I'm hoping we do get to see him again, instead of a Carson-esque disappearance.

But whatever he does, it should be done as a labor of love and on his own terms.

Anyway, here are a few for your withdrawal:

I remember his beaming face when he looked at the two in the audience, and he's where he belongs....

I loved Dave and miss him. Fallon has his moments but he is very controlled by the suits and relies on teen age humor too much- do do jokes, fart jokes etc

That said, I'll be watching the Colbert Late Show and am rooting for him to give us an intelligent alternative to Fallon's celebrity charades and 80s pop culture recreations.

I like Kimmel OK, but his show just doesn't grab me.

Conan's still great, but he's wasted on cable. He deserved that 11:30 network spot and paid his dues, only to get screwed over.

Or to read some great books.

Rebel against constant screens.

It's the Letterman way!

Started with the morning show. It's difficult to remember a time when his show wasn't a part of my life. He did a lot for me, whether or not he was aware of it. He owes me nothing at this point.

constant, a rock of reliability, during all the crazy phases of my life. Like, I don't even know what time to go to bed anymore, LOL!!! Funny, tho - just last night I said to my boyfriend that I can't wait for Colbert to start. I'm not desperate enough to turn on either of the Jimmy's. Just not "smart" enough.
