Sen. Ben Sasse, R-Neb., is among those pleased by the Supreme Court’s ruling Monday that the Environmental Protection Agency did not adequately consider the costs of tighter limits on mercury and other airborne pollutants.

Sasse, in a statement, said the EPA is too frequently immune to common sense and public accountability. He said he is encouraged that the EPA now must consider costs.

The State of Nebraska was among the plaintiffs in the case.

Nebraska Attorney General Doug Peterson, in a statement, said the ruling benefits Nebraskans who use public power because the cost to implement the additional regulations would have hurt ratepayers.
