And yes, tanned is supposed to be a reference to Jindals brown skin tone.Jindal used a similar line about being tanned in his official presidential campaign launch National media has seized on Jindals relationship with the Indian community, and the Jindal campaign has found some of the coverage and reporting offensive.

Not without unpleasant associations, but possibly the least offensive thing ever to come out of his campaign. If he can run on being brown, that is a sort of progress.
