Rand Paul: No More Marriage for Anyone if Homosexuals Can Marry

Well, certainly not for people with bad rugs.

http://www.ringoffireradio.com/2015/06/rand-paul-no-more-marriage-for-anyone-if-homosexuals-can-marry/

Senator Rand Paul says the government needs to get out of the marriage business now that marriage equality has been mandated by the U.S. Supreme Court. Paul says the government should no longer be entitled to license marriages, just as they should not license guns.

In defending his remarks, Paul stated:

The Constitution was written by wise men who were raised up by God for that very purpose. There is a reason ours was the first where rights came from our creator and therefore could not be taken away by government. Government was instituted to protect them. We have gotten away from that idea. Too far away. We must turn back. To protect our rights we must understand who granted them and who can help us restore them.

Basically, Paul is saying that after thousands of years of civilization, all of which had laws, it was America that God chose to select white men to provide the ultimate wisdom to form real laws. Not sure how Moses and The Ten Commandments fit into this argument. According to Paul, because God is the one who created the U.S. Constitution through his prophets (select, intellectual, white, men, aka Founding Fathers), the Supreme Court is without power to legalize marriage for homosexuals.

Hospitality, Restaurants, liquor, entertainers, florists, photo booths, attire - etc etc it's a huge industry.

So huge my mom is retired from the hotel biz - but is continuing her wedding planner side gig (8 to 12 a year) - and this year all but one is a same sex marriage.

That woud be an economy destroyer.

It doesn't matter if the colonies were christian. It doesn't matter if they were mostly found by christian sects freeing persecution. The establishment clause combined with the 14th amendment prohibit both the federal and state governments from respecting an establishment of religion. Legislation cannot be derived from religious ideology. There are no buts. There is no except in the case of marriage... Paul's religion may find homosexuality to be a sin and therefore reprehensible. My religion does not. Atheists do not believe in God or Gods at all. The government cannot impose religion or religious belief.

On a side note, I find it interesting that the two religions practiced by a majority of the founders eventually went on to support same sex marriage; Episcopalians and Presbyterians. The third largest was the congregationalists. After they splintered, many became Unitarian and Presbyterian.
