Today this extraordinarily talented woman was named Principal Dancer of the American Ballet Theater.

At age 32, she is a relative senior citizen. Her story is compelling; the stuff of movies. From nothing, starting late, and here she is. A rock star. An idol to many little girls, particularly little girls of color. Little girls with dreams and determination.

At an age when many dancers are already retiring, she is just getting started.

Because, after all, she can dance. Like few others.

Beauty in an unlikely size. Too muscular for some. Too busty for others. Too short for still others.

But most of all, she can DANCE.

I was wondering "Whut?" I never notice her size or figure or muscles. I notice how she sets the air on fire when when moves through it.

2. Dancers are athletes

That's always been the case, but she celebrates that athleticism like no woman before her.
