I tend to agree with a lot of your post. I think people may get riled by the poly comment though. Juicy_Bellows Jul 2015 #4

Personally, I've always thought that polygamy was more about power and control over women. secondwind Jul 2015 #7

expect them to never stop pushing for it. Marriage is between two people. Period.

I don't logically see why gay and straight people can marry, but poly people can't.

I respect gay people 100% and don't find anything inherently denigrating about marriage between consenting adults. To me, marriage is simply an official public declaration of love. Love isn't shameful or degrading to me.

So while fundamentalists use love as a wedge issue, it won't affect my opinion of heteros, gays or anyone else.

aren't some oppressed group to defend. Like the OP said, they're not in the same league as gay people wanting to get married.

Very true - However, it does logically stand unless we define marriage as 1 and 1 which I believe we currently do.

Anyway, I agree that it's a ridiculously small portion of the populace that is being used by some slippery-slope ass bullshit argument.

They sure are a much smaller and less vocal minority but on it's logical face it is sound.

However, I am sure you'll catch some shit for it.

Perhaps I will as well. I just think that if you are consenting adults it's fair game. However, I do not appreciate the media making it a slippery-slope argument - it's such a small, small percentage of people that this appeals to - not that it doesn't deserve to be discussed just that the MSM media is pedaling sensationalism and slippery-slope horse shit.
