Enemies -- foreign and domestic
I don't plan to spend this weekend worrying about some "lone-wolf-Islamic/ISIS/fanatical-suicidal-nut" blowing me up at some public event. However, the fear that is never far from my mind is not that of foreign enemies. Most of my fears these days are about domestic enemies. Namely, the Republican Party.
Recall that the intellectually challenged Dan Quayle was, at one time, a heartbeat away from the presidency. And recall that Sarah Palin was once a candidate to be a heartbeat away from the presidency. And then, take a look at today's Republican candidates for the presidency.
I don't really believe that Donald Trump could get the nomination, no less win the general election. But who's to say it couldn't happen. Would anyone really want to see that sick headcase in the White House. He'd probably build a 90 foot monument to himself on the front lawn.
And let's not forget Ted Cruz. Here again, a hater who sees "THEMS" everywhere, and a candidate that no sane person would ever want to see near the levers of power.
Most of the other occupants of the clown car aren't much better (Jeb included).
But let's say that one of these buffoons actually wins (or steals) the presidency next year. And as unlikely as it seems, what if the GOP manages to win (or steal) control of the senate. If that's not terrifying, I don't know what is.
I don't think it's necessary to go through the horrors that a totally Republican controlled government could/would inflict upon us. But the point of this post is this: Stop worrying about foreign enemies and worry about the very real ones that can totally destroy what's left of our freedoms. And do everything you possibly can to prevent that from happening.
And if you think I spend too much time worrying about them, let's hear it.
