Hero firefighter rescues stranded, injured dog and carries him two miles to safety on his shoulders

Rue, a purebred Vizsla, was then taken care of by Salt Lake County Animal services before she was reunited with her owners on Monday

* Tony Stowe and his crew from Salt Lake Fire Station 10 rescued Rue, who was stuck on a ledge off the Bonneville Shoreline Trail on Sunday

* Rue, a purebred Vizsla, had hurt her paw and wasn't moving

* She was reunited with her owners on Monday

* Tony says he misses Rue already and would have adopted her if she had been without a home

This is the heartwarming moment one firefighter placed an injured dog on his shoulders and carried her two miles to safety through the Utah mountains

The crew gave Rue water before she hitched a ride down the Bonneville Shoreline Trail on Tony's shoulders

Tony wrote on Facebook that he would have adopted Rue if she had been without a home.

'I miss her already,' he wrote of his fast bond with Rue. 'She was such a sweet dog and easy to carry.'
