But it still leaves the problem with voting machines. It is, however, a start.

By the way, and I think I told you this before, but your screen name is a character in one of my favorite sleeper movies. Besides, I'm a huge Sarandon fan.

Initial machine tallies could still be rigged, but at least there would be re-countable paper ballots, unlike with fully-automated black-box voting.

The opposition party would start at about what's currently 'centrist Democrat' and reach rightward to about Mitt Romney. The types who are currently running for the Republican presidential nomination would be extreme fringe candidates who could never even hope to win anything wider than a state level election.

Sorry, my experience with phone banking and door knocking does not suggest these are the path to election victory in 2016. The electronic media in general and the social media in particular are where it's at.

If GOTV doesn't move beyond the traditional tools of fingers and footsteps we will continue to get our asses handed to us on election day.

What else do you do in your area to GOTV? Concerts? Card tables on campuses? What works?

on different voters. I've found that door-to-door works well for me in getting uncommitted voters to go to the polls, so that's what I do. I think GOTV activists should do what works best for them. Do what you're good at.

What a ridiculous comments. "If" statements bug me. If the dog did not stop to take a dump he would have caught the rabbit.

I thought "if" statements bugged you, as in "if I get in an accident...," or "if there's a car barreling down the street I'm about to cross..."

Those both qualify, according to your post, no?

Without any qualification, you flatly stated that "if" statements bug you, and went on with some nonsense about a dog pursuing a rabbit, but stopping to poop, and comparing that to the gist of the OP.

Is that a fair assessment of your post? I think it is.
