Seth Rogen Fires Back At Kid Rock's Defense Of Confederate Flag

Kid Rock responded to the backlash earlier this week, releasing a statement to Fox News host Megyn Kelly, saying, “Please tell the people who are protesting to kiss my a--/Ask me some questions.” Fox News noted, at the time, that Kid Rock doesn’t use the Confederate flag because of its racial undertones, but rather because he likes the Southern pride associated with it. The network also reminded its viewers that the singer has a biracial son named Robert James Richie, Jr. and now a biracial grandchild.

Shortly after Kid Rock’s comment to Fox News, Seth Rogen mocked the singer’s strong connection to the South. Rogen tweeted, “Does Kid Rock know he’s from Detroit?” Tell us what you think about Kid Rock’s comment to the Confederate flag protestors and Seth Rogen’s tweet about the singer?

If someone is displaying the flag for racist beliefs that is an issue because of the racist beliefs. Personally, the flags I favor are the ones that look more appealing. I always liked the Canadian flag. The Maple Leaf was very unique. The US flag, I like the blue square with the stares in it but the white & red bars I didn't like didn't hate. Most of the flags are either bland or but I'd have to look for the ones that strike out to me. Red & black mostly isn't appealing unless done right like the balance of the Iraqi flag but one of my favorites is the Papua New Guinea flag (I like their flag more than the US flag over nothing more than I like their design better, I don't know a thing about the country or its politics so it isn't because I like their values better).

I support opposition to it against State government buildings & such because of the bad reasons for displaying the flag are prevelant but many different statements you could make with the display of a flag

FTR Outkast took some heat for this but this is what they were trying to say with the use.

“The discussions that have been sparked after my performance of ‘Georgia’ at the 2005 VIBE Awards is my exact reason for wearing a depiction of the Confederate Flag,” he wrote. “This flag represents the oppression that we as African-Americans have endured for years; this is a symbol of segregation and the racism that reigned not only throughout the South but throughout the entire United States. I wore it to represent where we came from, to remind people that Ray Charles’ original ‘Georgia’ was written because of that racism. At the end of the performance, I removed and stomped on the flag to reveal my version of the flag; a flag comprised of black, red, and green. Those are the colors of Africa. It is a representation and my interpretation of where we were and where we need to go. Racism is just as prevalent now and if we are not constantly mindful of our history and take charge of it, history is destined to repeat itself because of ignorance. In order to move forward, we must never forget where we were.

I hope people continue to question and challenge authority, media and themselves because questioning and challenging can only lead to enlightenment.”

One thing I am worried of and don't mean people but policymakers is making too much of a deal over it meaning get rid of the flag and problems go away when the focus should be on discrimination & work on solving the disparities in housing, employment, income, arrest, tried, and convicted for longer sentences, etc. Ending the war on drugs & focusing LEO efforts at real targets (burglary, rape, murder, etc) or anything that might have a meaningful impact.

A flag is a start but that is all it is but there is too much of a overselling the values of the current flag because KBR is a symbol of slave labor which is a contractor with the Department of Defense so they have an image of slave labor or one of the things that they are the ultimate employer of.

I support opposition to it on state houses and anyone that does it for hate reasons but if they are flying it because they have a fondness for Xs rather than hate it isn't an issue but I'd avoid it to not give the wrong impressions. BTW -- I don't know where Kid Rock is from but I thought he was from Detroit. Unless he is lying and really displaying for it hate reasons then I don't have issues for whatever his reasons -- it becomes more of a more important targets issue for me at the point.

I supported those who wanted it down in '99. Was surprised to hear recently that it was still up there though not surprised because it was SC.

So, he is a rich white man pretending to be white trash. I did not know he grew up with money and privilege. I thought he had grown up poor on the wrong side of the tracks.
