The good news keeps coming for President Obama as his signature legislative achievement, Obamacare, has caused the number of uninsured Americans to fall to a new record low.
According to Gallup:
The results of the Gallup survey demonstrate that Obamacare is doing exactly what it was intended to do. The ACA is helping underserved, uninsured demographic groups of Americans get access to healthcare. Obamacare has also made employer offered insurance programs stronger by lowering costs, offering more basic preventive health care benefits, and forcing insurance companies to function more efficiently.
The passage and enactment of the Affordable Care Act was a legacy defining moment for President Obama. The President has brought positive change and transformation to the accessibility and provision of health insurance. Obama is experiencing a late in his presidency string of success that feels like a reward for his years of struggle against an obstructionist Republican opposition.
Describing Obamacare as working is an understatement of what this president has accomplished. What President Obama has successfully done will save lives. He has not only changed the way the American people view healthcare policy. He has also changed America for the better.

We may not agree with his whole agenda...but damn, he's fought the good fight for many things, and now they're coming to fruition.

(22,308 posts)Not to diminish the accomplishment, I think this is great news... but....
The article says it is down nearly nearly six percentage points to 11.4%. didn't Gallup have the peak uninsured rate at 18.0%? My math says that it is down well over six percentage points. 6.6% to be exact (if you round to the nearest tenth, so not really exact).

(22,308 posts)that was just my way of implying that the article does not go far enough to credit the ACA.
If you go from the peak of 18% to where we are now at 11.4%, then roughly 1 out of every 3 uninsured Americans have found coverage in that time. More actually since we hit that milestone at 12%, plus the population increase has been offset. These really are good numbers considering there is no public option.
If an (R) did something like that, he would have plastic surgery to look like Teddy Roosevelt. Then erase TR from the history books and claim that it was he who is memorialized on Mount Rushmore.

(31,849 posts)1) those in states that refuse to expand Medicaid
2) the undocumented residents (who were written out of the law ... despite what the gop said ... and near happy to count)
3) those and folks choosing to remain uninsured (for one reason or another)
4) those that judge that they cannot afford coverage, even with the subsidies.
The first is an easy fix ... elect Democratic state legislatures ... the second is easy to fix, in an apolitical environment; but, impossible to fix unless it's a part of comprehensive immigration reform.
The last two, can't be fixed.

(23,946 posts)concerned about that again.....where is ISIS when you need it? Is there a clown around to entertain the folks, perhaps?
Is NK available these days to gin up some fear and avoid all mention of anything good happening anywhere in America?

They'll continue claiming, despite all evidence to the contrary, that Obamacare is falling apart and that, if elected, they'll tear it down entirely.
