Trump In Phoenix: Mexicans Are Coming To Take Your Jobs And Kill You

Lloyd Green

The P.T. Barnum of American politics is “course, ill-informed and inaccurate,” to quote one critic. But he connects with the heart of the Republican Party.

The GOP sowed the wind, and Donald Trump is reaping the whirlwind. Much to the horror of the Republican Establishment, Trump has a message that connects with the party’s base, and makes no bones about it. With his in-your-face style, Trump is simply saying what the Republican rank-and-file think. Period, full stop.

Obama wasn’t born here, check. And, of course, a hard line on immigration.

“I love the Mexican people … I respect Mexico … but the problem we have is that their leaders are much sharper, smarter and more cunning than our leaders, and they’re killing us at the border,” Trump said. “They’re taking our jobs. They’re taking our manufacturing jobs. They’re taking our money. They’re killing us.”

Trump was also late in calling for South Carolina to shelve the Confederate Flag, which is no surprise. A whopping 78 percent of Republicans still view the flag as a legitimate form of Southern pride, and two-thirds say it’s O.K. for states to fly it.

Like him or not, The Donald is one the few Republicans to internalize the facts that the white working- and middle-class is the heart of the Republican Party, and that older Americans now trend Republican. He connects, unlike Mitt Romney, who in 2012 craved the votes of white non-college graduates, but could not break through.

They are not being, "smarter and more cunning."

They come from economic depression and cartel drug wars. The Mexicans dig down deep into their souls to find the strength to work outlandish hours at manual labor. They sweat and they toil and they have earned their citizenship.

I'd like to see Mr. Trump roll up his sleeves and work for a few hours with these great people, but he would probably stroke out after 20 minutes of hard labor.

to be honest I'm afraid the conservatives might kill me because of the hate for starters but the elements are fitting into place for a far right movement. We already do have them with the border militias one of whom was Neo-Nazi JT Ready who killed his family and killed himself. I'm even hearing of pushing lone gone conspiracy theories related to Loughner as an effort to support the taking of guns, followed by internment camps, and fighting a war against them which will be easy because they don't have their guns. A mob mentality can happen with a few more things fit into place for them to take up arms against "enemies".

On edit -- Shame on him for saying it too because the wrong fool could easily buy into it and preemptively kill. I'm getting tired of these hate preachers in Arizona in elected offices. I hope Trump is just a fool but what he is pushing is very dangerous. What are these assholes hoping for? This is a very organized, connected push to influence others particularly these areas of this false conspiracy theories and already see people buying into it like feel it is necessary to stop the upcoming plan to take our freedoms away starting with the guns which is so stupid. Probably just gun sales but what they are pushing is dangerous.

...amazing to me that he and many, many others can spew this type of thing with a straight face. How is it that they can lie like this and very seldom suffer repercussions?

Why is it always Republicans that stir up fear and hate and incite a crowd toward violence? Because that is exactly what they are doing. And I think they absolutely know what that type of speech will do to the wrong mindset.

ignorance. This is something I have tried to figure out for years. Why would people vote against their own interests? Pugs have always supported corp. merika and richie rich. When they get elected treasure is always doled to richie rich bourgeois.
