Mrs. Cosby stands by her man -

http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/07/12/cosby-s-wife-stands-by-her-rapist-husband-i-created-him-and-we-ll-fix-this.html

-snip-
According to reports, Cosby’s wife and business manager Camille is standing by him even though he admitted to drugging women for the purpose of sex in a court deposition.

Despite over 40 women accusing him of sexual assault, and his admitting to drugging women for the purpose of sex in a recently unearthed court deposition, Bill Cosby’s longtime (and long-suffering) wife, Camille, is still standing by her man, according to the New York Post.

The benefits of marriage and celebrity are too good to give up?
She has poor self-esteem?

I really don't understand it as a woman.

She stood by Bill Clinton (though he only had a wandering dick, not a rapist one, so far as we know) through everything.

Not to be dismissive of what Cosby is accused of. Not at all. If even half of what has been said is true, he needs to die a sad, lonely, unremembered old man in prison.

I think society has convinced women that we need to be supportive of our spouses, even if they do horrible things. I hope the younger generation kicks that idea to the curb and that women begin to stand up and say "no more".

For the record, I stayed with a cheating spouse much longer than I should have, through mental and emotional abuse, though no physical abuse occurred. I did it for our children, or so I believed, because divorce was supposed to be so bad for them. I came to see later that having a mother driven to suicide probably wasn't much better.

you merely compare conscentual sex with an adult woman with drugging and raping. Yea that isn't dismissive.

....difference.

I wouldn't have stayed married to a cheating spouse, and I'm sorry for your troubles, but this is not my marriage or yours. I'm less inclined to judge other people's marriages (up to a point), now that I've lived through my own share of drama.

The Clintons are two very talented and hard working people in politics. Cosby was also talented and hardworking in show biz. The difference is, Cosby didn't seduce women: he knocked them unconscious and raped them.

If you don't like the Clintons' politics, so be it. But please do not mention them in the same breath with the Cosbys.

You have to go very far to the right to get any such claims. Then consider there is a HUGE gap between 40 some rapes and consensual sex - even if it is adulterous - and consider deleting this entire thing.

I suspect she's in denial. She's probably spent decades ignoring the signs because it's too awful to see. Denial is a very powerful phenomenon. I expect that's closer to the truth than money or complicity. She can't accept its true.

alot of people believed it .We watch in awe as the monster gets discovered and maybe see we all could be monsters if we ever start thinking we aren't potential monsters .Some of us think we know people then realize about date rape or learn how to never trust because we have had pur trust stolen by someone like Cosby .
I don't think this story is cause for celebration or retribution and revenge ,we should learn from this so it won't happen anymore .The more we all know about what rape is about hopefully we can stop it as much as we can .

think about adultery, much less rape. I don't think her religion has anything to do with it. She probably has very low self-esteem because she is in a long-term abusive relationship with a psychopath.

what I would do, honestly. That would mean asking the entire family to turn on him: I wouldn't expect that to happen.

Turning on him would cost her everyone in her family, including the kids.

She might not have known anything about it: He was always on the road alone.

I don't see her as culpable at all. If he didn't target her kids, she's innocent.

I hate to see anyone dumping on Mrs. Cosby as her reality is very different from what we envision, given the length of her marriage, her children and what she's been led to believe by her husband. At this point in her life it would be very difficult to just walk away, as some people would like to see. And denial is a pretty powerful emotion, we should just let her be.

People have all sorts of reasons to stay married to someone: denial, religion, the need for companionship, the ability to still love a horrendously flawed person, Stockholm syndrome, fear of a solitary old age.

Whatever her reasons are, I respect them. Unless she knew and is complicit, he is the monster, not her; and to whatever degree his actions have caused her pain, she is another victim.

she got the eff out before the nightmare which she knew would be coming. I knew of all this a very very long time ago but could not discuss it for obvious reasons. In addition, and often not discussed, is the fact that Cosby's former comrades from his youth here hate his guts for a variety of reasons including but not limited to the fact that he promised that he would get all the inspirations for his cartoon and humor characters and assemble them in Hollywood but he never even began to do so. I know a couple of those guys...

Conservatives hoisted it on some pedestal, along with the other tripe of the 1980s. A morality play couched in little safe Christian humor. Then he has the nerve to write books about what family is all about. Guy should have stuck to stand up. He was the best at that.

Doing all the things royalty does - best seats in the house, asked to write forwards to books, etc

And now her husband's crimes have taken that away from her. She's desperately trying to maintain that illusion, and is clueless to the fact that it aint coming back.

And, as his business manager (and word is, a very hard-line one), she has an enterprise to try in vain to salvage.
