Report: Perry fundraising largely being driven by 3 donors

AUSTIN -- Former Texas Governor Rick Perry raised nearly $17 million in recent months for his Republican presidential campaign. But the funds are not coming from a wide swath of society and instead are being powered by a few large donations.

According to the Washington Post, Dallas billionaire Kelcy Warren donated $6 million to one of the super PACs supporting Perry. Another $5 million came from Dallas billionaire Darwin Deason while another $4 million came from an anonymous donor, according to the Post.

The approximately $15 million raised by the pro-Perry Super PACs completely overshadowed the campaign's fundraising which came in at $1.07 million, according to the Post.

Perry's fundraising of $17 million puts him in fourth place in the GOP primary race behind Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz, and Marco Rubio.
