More than half of Iranians are under thirty-five years old.

The young people who will come to power in that timeframe will have no personal recollection living under the repressive Pahlavi regime, but sure as shit know all about crazy religious fundamentalists trying to run their lives for them.

If I was an Iranian citizen, I'd push my government to produce nuclear weapons, too.

I have this vision that, to get the Republicans on board, congressional approvals for this treaty and for TPP will be linked. Obama wants both, so it's a win-win for him, but the Dems fighting TPP will have to go along with it to assure approval of the Iran deal.

The TPP agreement isn't even in its final form. Who knows when it will be. When it is, Congress will vote on it, within 90 days of the release of the final form of the agreement.

I know it's confusing, but TPP has not passed.

from ignorance, since they get the terms confused so often. It's crucial to understand the difference between the actual TPP and things like TPA, which only enables the negotiations to proceed and prevents Congress from attaching amendments and changes to the agreement. Any such changes would require further negotiations between the multiple nations who are involved.

Will the TPP pass in Congress? Probably it will, but so far, nobody has seen a final version of the agreement, since negotiations are still underway.

How great an achievement this is is directly proportional to the Republican outrage we are hearing. If the Republicans would have been silent today, I might have questioned this deal, but their outrage speaks volumes about how good for America and Obama's legacy this deal is.

I think people are not fully appreciating how monumental this is. Just 7 years ago, Obama was being roundly criticized for even suggesting we talk to Iran at all, today we have signed an agreement with Iran that will prevent them from gaining nuclear weapons and ultimately could lead to them returning to full normalized relations with most of the world. Just a huge huge accomplishment.
