For the first time in my memory, we have witnessed an agreement between Russia, China, Great Britain, Germany, the EU, Iran, and the United States. In the process, they have stopped the development of a nuclear weapon in the Middle East, which may have been only months away. It is historic in that sense.
In another sense, it shows the possibilities of a United Nations, when they work together. It illuminates the hope that humans can find a peaceful resolution when they work together.
Politically, it is a great accomplishment for President Obama and the other leaders in the negotiations. This will be at the top of the list in the legacy ofPresident Barack Obama.

(5,504 posts)After saying that Iran was many years away from developing weapons when sanctions were the answer and so sanctions were an answer to no problem at all, now that we have a diplomatic solution it's saving us from nukes that may have only been "months away" and therefore a great thing.
It's hard to underestimate the American populace.
