BREAKING NEWS: Dog Food Being Recalled Due to Listeria

Stella & Chewy’s, a company that produces freeze-dried and frozen dog food, is issuing a voluntary recall due to listeria. On June 2, the Maryland Department of Agriculture detected the bacteria in 15 oz bags of Chicken Freeze-Dried Dinner Patties for Dogs. For safety measures, the company is recalling several other products. You can find the full list on their website.

Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that lives in soil, water, and a few different animals. It sometimes contaminates food processing facilities, where it can infect food and pose serious health risks for those who are immunodeficient, pregnant, elderly, or young. Symptoms of infection include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, fever, confusion, severe headaches, convulsions, and even death.

No illnesses have been reported yet, but if your pet has eaten Stella & Chewy’s food and experienced any of these symptoms, call your vet right away. And if you have any of the products on the list, return them to the store you bought them from, and you’ll receive a full refund.

have to return. Just goes to show it does not matter what you pay. Best to just make your own food for your fur babes! I am sick at heart!
