WASHINGTON — Rep. Brad Ashford continues to insist that campaign fundraising is not his top priority, and his numbers reflect that.
The Nebraska Democrat received about $200,000 in donations for the first quarter of 2015. He followed that up with $155,000 in contributions for the second quarter, according to Federal Election Commission reports filed this week.

The campaign now has $255,000 cash on hand. In an interview, Ashford was upbeat about the numbers and said he remains confident he’ll have the resources to get his message out.

He also reiterated his position that asking for dough should take a back seat to learning the ropes of Capitol Hill and focusing on policies such as the trade bill and the situation in the Middle East.

“I just have this belief that if I keep working on issues and keep driving issues forward as much as I can, even as a freshman, that the voters will give me the credit for that,” he said.

He's exactly who the DCCC will be looking to emulate. (The other was Graham in FL-2, who is almost as conservative.)
