that solving problems militarily without first trying to exhaust all other methods, such as sanctions, and negotiations, is BAD FOREIGN policy.
In 2015, we are faced with the same issue, except this time it is Iran, and we have a different President.
From 2003, we know now what "cowboy" diplomacy gets us. It destabilized the entire middle east, and ironically made Iran more powerful in the region.
We now have the opportunity to utilize the other option that was so quickly discarded in 2003, and that option is solving problems through negotiations rather than war.
Not many times in history do we have an opportunity to compare both approaches side by side. We already know what the cost of invading a country is.
I will be watching with great interest to see how many in congress, democrats and republicans, will make the same mistake they made in 2003
A warning to congressional democrats, the polls indicate that the majority of Americans support the President on this issue.

(24,576 posts)This is the result of a great President who is committed to finding alternatives to war, and two Secretaries of State who persevered through years of hard negotiations. My hat is off to all three.
