President Obama made me proud to be an American today, at WH Presser on Iran deal.

That's a feeling I don't get nearly enough these daze, but today I was flooded
with joy and a sense of relief, seeing, finally, the US leading the world towards
peace, not war.

Obama's speech delivery & fielding press' questions was both forceful & graceful, compellingly
clear in detailing the treaty's air-tight mechanisms for verifying Iran's compliance, and reminding
us all that this agreement is to accomplish the one thing everyone agrees is a top priority for achieving
relative peace, not war, both with Iran and in the ME in general.

And that top priority is this: that Iran will not have a nuclear weapon capability with which to
threaten Israel & other ME neighbors, and world peace in general. BAM! Done.

It was SO damned refreshing to see my president stand strong for peace, while out-flanking
the Congressional war-heads' saber-rattling & hawkish posturing with regard to Iran.

Bravo Mr. President. Well fucking done!

He would have been the first openly gay mayor of that city had he won (he came in third).

From LA Weekly:

Radio talk show host Kevin James wants Los Angeles voters to know that he's a registered Republican who wants to be the first openly gay mayor of L.A.

"There's no doubt that if I became the first openly gay mayor of Los Angeles," James tells L.A. Weekly, "it would help [the gay community] enter the mainstream in America even more."

James rarely discusses his sexual orientation on the airwaves.

James says he's been openly gay for years, but has only mentioned his sexual orientation on his former radio show on 790 KABC AM a few times.

Long overdo. After that presser not a single repuke came forward to rebut any of it because they've got nothing. They have no alternative, they want war but don't have the balls to come out and say so.

The GOP, the party of war, needs another Bush to strut & bluster around the WH,
lie through his teeth to gin-up a spanking-new ME war, consequences be damned,
what's good for America be damned. It's a Bush clan specialty, it would seem.

Witness the Bush Crime Family's unparralled record of doing this. I haven't seen
Jeb's list of major corporate campaign donors, but I'd bet my booties it's top-heavy
with MIC big-boys.

his entire press conference, and the follow up discussions on on MSNBC, all I kept thinking was; where was all of this when the President was telling us to get behind the Trans Pacific Partnership? How come Obama couldn't find the time to call a press conference to make the case for the TPP to the American public and face pointed questions from the Press? And then round table discussions on TV?

As much credit as I give Obama on the Iran agreement, I can't help worrying that he has sold out America's Middle Class. I guess we will have to wait for History's judgement.

Wall St. bankster criminals walking free, confessed torturers walking free, while Don Seigalman sits in jail for years for no good reason (not being pardoned by Obama?!?), the TPP travesty, etc. etc. I could go on.

But on this one thing at least, I must give credit to Obama (and also to Kerry) for a job well done, for demonstrating that peaceful resolution of international conflict is possible and preferable to war. And I'm also delighted that Obama normalized US relations with Cuba, at long last.
