Tom Strain, a member of Sons of Confederate Veterans, said every April, his group puts out Confederate flags at the Limestone County Courthouse and at a nearby cemetery in Athens. He said one flag was inadvertently left this year and caused a minor commotion. Strain said he solved the problem as soon as he learned about it.
He said that's when a group called the Alabama Flaggers alerted him that they were going to hold a rally and "flag" the courthouse.
According to Strain, he sent the Alabama Flaggers a letter a few weeks ago telling them he didn't want to see that rally in Athens and he didn't want their help ...
