Anyone read Free Republic recently? They are in a state of utter despair

I don't read that website often, but their tears are nourishing my soul.

They're utterly crushed because of what's happened recently...from the SCOTUS rulings on gay marriage and Obamacare to the Iran nuclear deal....

They seem to think their only hope is Donald Trump.

away from a landslide presidential win.

Yes, they really believe that all she has to do is announce and America will flock to her.

They also thought, prior to jumping on the Trump Hindenburg, that if the polls were "unskewed," Ted Cruz is really leading for a 2016 blowout.

I never see/hear the name Sarah Palin without again recognizing that Republicans actually believed that putting that brainless idiot within a heartbeat of the presidency of the US was a good idea.

If I ever doubted that Republicans are not the least bit interested in the welfare of this nation, her VP candidacy alone stands as the ultimate proof thereof.

He has the media crew too, from his years of TV shows experience to steamroll over any republican candidate who uses the exact same 'tactics' to win.

IMO, Trump will probably 'pull a ron paul', quit at the last second and back one of the others and drag the primary votes with him.

If he doesn't quit, consider voting for trump in their primary to help ensure he runs. He is the least dangerous out of all the republicans.

Trump won't make it to the finals, he will be voted off the island soon enough. I think he was encouraged to join the race to make brother boosh look sane. A funny thing happened on the way to the Met, certain people love his asshat statements. Trump is a man never to waste an opportunity to feed his ego. So he won't go quietly anymore. He believes he has a real shot at this.

I live around plenty of Republicans but like mostly anybody else they don't pay follow up closely and focus on the day-to-day, hobbies, etc. Discussions don't happen on that matter and when they do its usually on foreign policy but from what I gather most seem to lack awareness or understanding not that one side is holy or pure but I can't imagine pro-Republican discussions that is complete and full of open sources. I guess I can imagine its what their leaders are saying, whatever talking points they're using though most of the time they're lying or using a lie or a myth to justify their true goal with whatever policy. How much trickle down do we need to know it is a failed policy but it is a great policy for monopoly & transferring the wealth into the very, very wealthy. Politicians by and large are bought and paid for but the GOP platform is simply putting Billionaires first.

Do they fall for that divide and conquer so easily? What I mean is, I suppose, that so many "Freepers" have had access to information that it must be a forum of a whole bunch of people that believe a lie. Not that there are lies from our party that many supporters easily believe but the GOP lies on a daily routine basis and they tell some very creative lies too. They probably don't realize their party is psychologically manipulating them and regardless of the kind of support they bring, they are just pawns easily thrown away but want them distracted and focused on their enemy whoever it is that stands in their way of their billionaire goals which is why I don't get why middle to lower classes would support them if they understand the truth but they shouldn't expect anything from them unless they hit the jackpot in the casino economy the Republicans are calling for.

I just have a feeling it is a nightmare I wouldn't want to wander in. Guns and kills me so many church goers of the evangelical or fundamentalist variety would back someone simply because of what they say their beliefs are but can't recognize they are false prophets. I'm not religious in any sense but they can't recognize the wolf in sheep's clothing. The GOP has the moderate to deeply religious vote locked up.
