‘Sovereign citizen’ arrested after twice trying to grab one of six loaded guns

Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Georgia “sovereign citizen” who twice attempted to pull one of the half-dozen guns he had within reach inside his car decorated with a hand-painted Confederate flag.

A Towns County sheriff’s deputy and an agent from the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office stopped 30-year-old Dustin Lee Gunnells, of Hiawassee, for an unspecified misdemeanor traffic offense Wednesday, reported WKRK-AM.

“Immediately the driver exhibited aggression towards the officers and began making statements consistent with ‘sovereign citizen type beliefs,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. “Rather than comply with deputies, the driver reached for a gun.”

The deputies feared for their safety but did not shoot, and instead broke out a window in Gunnell’s car and physically removed him from the vehicle.

Deputies said they found six guns — a 9mm hand gun, a .45-caliber handgun, a .40-caliber handgun, a .44 magnum caliber short rifle, and a .223-caliber AR-15 military-style rifle — and extra ammunition inside Gunnells’ car.

Each of the weapons was loaded, and all but the AR-15 had rounds within the chamber, authorities said.

Two of the handguns, including the one Gunnells kept holstered at his back, were cocked, investigators said.

You Tube has many of these "sovereign citizens" taunting the police, refusing to have a driver's license, claiming the police have no authority over them because they are "citizen ad litum" and much more highly interesting and amusing stuff. I think it would be very interesting if black people started a similar movement, perhaps based on the fact they were brought here involuntarily and held in slavery, and are this not subject to the authority of the government. They certainly have a better case than all these so-called sovereigns, whose only real problem is with any form of authority. Of course, as nearly everyone points out, if black people tried this stuff, they would be shot in significant numbers. Can you imagine a black man driving around in a car full of loaded weapons? My god!

29. Stop Telling Black Men

Now everyone has to stop telling black men and women that if they would only comply and not be aggressive toward the police they would not get hurt, shot, and/or killed. This man became aggressive just about the very moment the police stopped him. That alone could have gotten a black person killed. He then reached for a gun, or multiple guns twice. That also would have likely gotten a black person killed.
