This is a shout-out to PLANNED PARENTHOOD and everyone who has worked with them

and benefited from them.

Even though I never actually walked through their doors, countless friends of mine did, and it has always been a comfort knowing that Planned Parenthood was there, backing up teens and women in communities across the country, and ready to help me if I ever needed them.

None of us should ever take their bravery and hard work for granted. They are under attack once again. Let's have their backs as they have had ours all this time.

THE CAMPAIGN OF DECEPTION AGAINST PLANNED PARENTHOOD

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/07/22/opinion/the-campaign-of-deception-against-planned-parenthood.html

A hidden-camera video released last week purported to show that Planned Parenthood illegally sells tissue from aborted fetuses. It shows nothing of the sort. But it is the latest in a series of unrelenting attacks on Planned Parenthood, which offers health care services to millions of people every year. The politicians howling to defund Planned Parenthood care nothing about the truth here, being perfectly willing to undermine women’s reproductive rights any way they can.

The nine-minute video clip released by the Center for Medical Progress, an outfit apparently created in 2013, invites viewers to “Hold Planned Parenthood accountable for their illegal sale of baby parts.” In it, Dr. Deborah Nucatola, Planned Parenthood’s senior director of medical services, is seen discussing the collection of fetal tissue in a lunch meeting with two people posing as potential tissue buyers. A second video, released on Tuesday, shows another Planned Parenthood staff member discussing fetal tissue.

After the first video’s release, Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky pledged to “introduce an amendment to pending Senate legislation to immediately strip every dollar of Planned Parenthood funding.” Senator Ted Cruz of Texas called for defunding and for “an investigation of Planned Parenthood’s activities regarding the sale and transfer of aborted body parts.” The House Energy and Commerce Committee is undertaking an investigation, and Gov. Greg Abbott of Texas and Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana have ordered investigations in their states.

The full video of the lunch meeting, over two hours long and released by the Center for Medical Progress after complaints by Planned Parenthood, shows something very different from what these critics claim. Clearly, the shorter version was edited to eliminate statements by Dr. Nucatola explaining that Planned Parenthood does not profit from tissue donation, which requires the clear consent of the patient. Planned Parenthood affiliates only accept money — between $30 and $100 per specimen, according to Dr. Nucatola — to cover costs associated with collecting and transporting the tissue. “This is not something with any revenue stream that affiliates are looking at,” she said. Under federal law, facilities may be reimbursed for costs associated with fetal tissue donation, like transportation and storage.

A man was on faux yesterday, and said they will be releasing a lot more tapes.

How anyone can trust anything O'Keefe is involved in is beyond me.

That did the video taping of PP:

JUSTICE TO PROBE CENTER FOR MEDICAL PROGRESS — While congressional committees investigate Planned Parenthood’s practices, the Justice Department agreed to look into whether the group that released the sting videos obtained the footage legally. In response to a request by House Democrats, Attorney General Loretta Lynch saidWednesday afternoon that Justice would “review all of the information and determine what the appropriate steps moving forward would be.” Planned Parenthood has staunchly defended its practices and claims that the Center for Medical Progress illegally obtained its footage, then excessively edited it to misrepresent what the organization does.

Sting Videos Part Of Longtime Campaign Against Planned Parenthood
July 22, 2015 1:50 PM ET

Jennifer Ludden

The young man behind two undercover videos targeting Planned Parenthood seemed to come out of nowhere. No one had heard of David Daleiden, or his non-profit, the Center for Medical Progress, when he first accused the health care provider of illegally selling aborted fetal baby parts last week. But in fact, the 26-year-old has been helping to create similar sting videos for years and has ties to larger well-known groups that oppose abortion.

Update at 4:45 p.m. ET: Democrats Call For Inquiry

Four Democrats in Congress — Reps. Jan Schakowsky, Zoe Lofgren, Jerry Nadler, and Yvette Clarke — have written to Attorney General Loretta Lynch and California Attorney General Kamala Harris, asking them to open investigations into the Center for Medical Progress.

The Democrats say the videos were filmed as part of an "elaborate scheme" — using "fake identification" and without the approval of the Planned Parenthood doctor who appears in them.

Our original post continues:

The initial registration form for Daleiden's non-profit, first made public by The Nation, lists two other members: Albin Rhomberg, an anti-abortion activist, and Troy Newman, the head of the national anti-abortion group Operation Rescue, which alerted reporters a day before the release of the first video about "huge news breaking tomorrow." Abortion rights supporters have been quick to point out that Newman once defended the killing of an abortion provider as "justifiable defensive action."

We need to support them more and call out the lies of the people responsible for the vicious tape recordings.

"Planned Parenthood's senior director of medical services is seen discussing the collection of fetal tissue in a lunch meeting with two people posing as potential tissue buyers."

There's a whole lot of people out there, including good liberal Democrats, who find the idea of PP discussing the potential sale of fetal tissue (even at cost) as extremely disturbing.

This is an issue that could linger.

all they are doing is passing along the costs they incur for storage and transportation.

Anyone can donate for scientific research their own body or of a deceased spouse or child. This is the same thing. And the costs are borne by the research organization.

I'm betting there's a whole lot of people who were unaware that PP participated in that activity.

Why people find something to be or not be damning is up to them, but it doesn't take away from the fact they do and that they find it to be disturbing, which is what's happening, and might drive this story.

Then again, it could die tomorrow.

18. I stopped giving to the national long ago...They only play defense...here are my suggestions
Thu Jul 23, 2015, 10:54 PM
Jul 2015

(I only to the regional groups which provides services....in my case, Rocky Mountain PP)

PP needs a much better PR machine...They and other groups really have dropped the ball for YEARS.

They used to run ads addressing "privacy in the bedroom" but have just gone to defense...

They should point out the hypocrisy of the GOP re: lots of unwanted babies and their policies re: feeding them and allowing acces to health care

They should point out the hypocrisy of the GOP with regard to denying birth control access.

They should point out the hypocrisy of "small government" vs. shoving probes up women and demanding medically unnecessary
ultrasounds.

They should point out the hypocrisy of Hobby Lobby not wanting to provide birth control to employees because of "religious" beliefs, while they are invested in companies that make the morning after pill.

They should point out the hypocrisy of abortion being in the insurance provided by the RNC, which they then pulled when someone got wind of it.

They should aggressively go after this "partial birth abortion" crap...again, losing the battle on language, as the left often does as well. It's not "partial birth abortion," there is NO SUCH THING...It's called......SURGERY! Of course, Democrats let this thing go on all the time, so no help there...so it's up to Cecile Richards to act more like her mother!!

I could think of other things that they need to go after so they go on OFFENSE!

I wrote a letter eons ago to NARAL....no response.

The big national offices are not doing the job....and where is NOW??

There are a couple of organization that actually fund travel and expenses.

Why don't these groups all have a summit and divide up the tasks...services, travel, legal, etc.

They are absolutely losing this battle and they don't show any real effort to turn it around.

Court is nice, but the court of public opinion has to be considered too!

THEY NEED TO MOUNT A CAMPAIGN TO DISCREDIT critics, like the critics do to discredit PP!
