...like we don't all know the answer to that...

(57,936 posts)I don't see how his killings would not be considered to be terrorist acts considering that some very similar but less successful plans for violence were considered terrorist acts.
Roof's killings were very, very political. Has anyone been watching that story? Just trying him for a hate crime doesn't seem quite right to me.
When the Patriot Act was first passed, I thought the definition of terrorist acts and terrorism was too vague. Still is. Depends on your religion and the color of your skin more than on the nature of your act from what I can tell thus far.

(18,124 posts)NO!!!!!! never will white terrorists be profiled, in this country. Can't, too many of them. That's their strength, always has been. Even when they were riding in the night terrorizing, good decent folk.

My cousin was arrested for a dui and at the jail in the holding area, she was beaten to near death. She has had 4 or 5 operations since and now is permanently disabled.

(14,255 posts)around with a gun. I leave the premises whenever I see one. Why wait, why take a chance. I consider them the most likely to go batshit crazy or coolly insane and just start shooting people, knowing there may not even be any punishment. Here in Florida, they can kill at will and just claim they were nervous and afraid. Yeah, I know society will not profile them, but I do.

(23,369 posts)My own large Hawaiian shirts are intended to conceal the fact that I'm carrying some extra weight But other items can be, and statistically are, concealed under such a floral tent.
Of course, my shirts are no more effective at hiding the gut, than Trump's hair is effective in hiding his gleaming dome.
By comparison, guns are easy to conceal, and I'd assume they exist in most venues, regardless of signs and policy statements.

(14,255 posts)If people with guns would just shoot each other, that would be sad, but a big improvement over being collateral damage or penalized for pissing someone off.

(25,406 posts)I don't recall reading about any such incidents, but perhaps I have missed those news stories. I suspect, however, that your "absolute terror" may be misplaced, and that statistically, an old white woman in Florida is more likely to be eaten by an alligator than be shot by some random white man strutting around with a gun.

(14,255 posts)bystander. Oops! Collateral damage. I was just speaking to the "middle-aged white man" thing. No, they won't get profiled, and they can, evidently, kill with impunity.
