Lakebay Marina evacuated due to bomb threat (Gig Harbor near Tacoma, WA)

The Lakebay Marina has been evacuated and the Pierce County Sheriff's Office has secured the area after a man fired a shotgun into the air and claimed to have strapped bombs to fuel tanks.

Newscaster just said that after firing several shots into the air, this man claims to have several bombs in his personal boat and strapped on many other bombs to the gas storage tanks at the marina.

SWAT and other marine units are at the scene and Troyer said the scene is secure, but they are advising everyone to stay away from the area.

Troyer said the man is not someone they've had contact with in the past and as far as they can tell, he doesn't have a criminal background.

"He does not have a history of doing this, and until we can figure out exactly what is happening, we're going to treat it as much as we possibly can with our resources to keep people from getting hurt, until we can determine what the actual threat is," Troyer said.

1. Apparently this is a standoff.

I just heard on the news that this guy has a high-powered rifle with a long range scope. Many houses in the area have been evacuated. The man is claiming that he will shoot anyone coming too close. He also claims to have several detonators throughout the marina and his own boat.
