Police say the tombstone of a relative of Roots author Alex Haley has been vandalized with the words “White Lives Matter”.

The Jackson Sun reports that the Savannah police chief, Gary Will, says the tombstone of Queen Haley was spray-painted earlier this week. Queen Haley was Alex Haley’s grandmother.

Alex Haley was the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Roots: The Saga of an American Family, which is the story of an enslaved African American family. The book was later made into a TV miniseries. Alex Haley died in 1992.

The police chief says a professional cleaning company has been hired by the cemetery to remove the paint. Will says a protective coating will be added to the stone so that if it is painted again it will come right off.

Seems very unlikely an actual white person would be responsible for this, and even if they had a problem with Alex Haley, they're not going to bring his dead grandmother into it. That only really leaves two options: either this was some kind of family fallout, possibly a dispute over an inheritance or something similar (remember how nasty Nelson Mandela and MLK's families got amongst each other), or it was someone committing another fake "hate crime" in an attempt to discredit white activists.

Desecrating someone's grandmother's grave isn't something I can see them doing. Most likely, this is the Haley family having some kind of dispute with each other, or maybe Alex Haley is having financial troubles and trying to make some money off people's sympathy.

We've had far too many of these hoax "hate crimes" in recent years for us not to treat this with extreme caution and skepticism.

Especially since Obama has been in office. Let us not forget that Alex Haley also had many black enemies due to his plagiarizing from other black authors, and unpaid debts. White "racists" don't go around desecrating the graves of random, long dead black women. There is not a single shred of evidence to suggest a white person was involved here in any way.
